THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted passion for family law, Ashley's current legal practice is centered around a variety of aspects of family matters. She concentrates a large portion of her work on divorce cases, alimony disputes, divorce property distribution child custody battles, child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement and issues, step-parent and private party adoptions, as well as concerns about child welfare. Ashley has been as a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019 helping parties to help to resolve their issues without needing to litigate or court involvement. In addition to mediations arranged by the court, Ashley also mediates in private cases for individuals who wish to avoid the litigation and court process.

After having completed her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned dual Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. In 2013, she graduated, and excelled academically, securing a spot among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was an Editor of the Notes at the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This demonstrated her commitment to scholarship and research in the field of law.

After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship program, working with distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She had the honor of being a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. Then, in 2014 she returned to her hometown of Hagerstown to work as a clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, further enhancing her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Learn more about Ashley Wilburn

In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. The primary goal of the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services on cases dealing with child welfare. Through her dedicated efforts, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who were victims of neglect or abuse at by their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice spanned far beyond the legal realm since she was actively an officer of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force and worked tirelessly to raise awareness about human trafficking in the tri-state area.

In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the fields of family law including divorce child support, custody and guardianships as well for estate planning, such as wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxy and mediation.

Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023, with the intention of providing an individual approach to each client's needs.
