THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted love for family law, Ashley's current legal practice is focused on a variety of aspects of family matters. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues marital property division fights over child custody and child support arrangements. She also handles the post-divorce and enforcement of issues such as step-parent adoptions and private adoptions at parties as and concerns regarding child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including wills, trusts, probate, and estate administration, along with commercial, contract, and civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since the year. She assists parties to resolve their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. Ashley mediates private cases as well as court-appointed mediation for those who wish to avoid court proceedings and litigation.

After having completed her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned two Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students of her class. Ashley was an Editor of the Notes at the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This was a sign of her dedication to scholarship and research in the field of law.

After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship experience, working for distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to work as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. Then, in 2014, she returned to her home town of Hagerstown to work as a clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, expanding her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Learn more about Ashley Wilburn

In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. As an associate attorney. Her primary role in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters which involved child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who had suffered abuse or neglect at the from their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to fighting social injustice transcended her legal career as she was an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to educate the public about human trafficking within the tri-state region.

In 2017 she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her practice in family law - custody, divorce, child maintenance and guardianships – as well as financial and estate planning, wills, trusts, power of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies – and mediation.

Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. The company was founded with an intention to provide an individual approach to each client's needs.
